Yes, you are seeing it correctly. A new wood floor was being laid over a part of The Colosseum in Rome when we were there in June 2000. We heard it was for a concert. I only hope it was removed once the concert was over. I am "borrowing" this photo from someone in our group as mine is a photo and not digital, yet.
