A Picture Now and Then

This blog is my way of sharing some of the unique things I have seen and places I have been. It is not intended to be a history or geography lesson, or a travel guide. It is just A Picture Now and Then.

A Ball Court

Chichen Itza, Mexico
December 2001

The Mayans were great sportsmen and built huge ball courts to play all their games. The Great Ball Court of Chichen Itza is 225 feet wide and 545 feet long. This was the small hoop atop the high stone wall for the rubber ball. The game was played much like soccer...without the use of hands.
